With our existing nursing home destroyed by flooding from Hurricane Katrina, St. Margaret's at Mercy was faced with a rebuilding project. Now, our nursing home and retirement community is licensed to care for 104 residents on eight acres of beautifully landscaped grounds in New Orleans, LA.
St. Margaret's at Mercy was designed with our residents in mind. We have rebuilt our facility to look and feel like a home, not a nursing facility. We are the only facility in New Orleans designed on the household model. Gone are the days of long corridors, triple-occupancy rooms, and traditional nursing stations. Here, at our skilled nursing facility, you will find households comprised of eight to ten beds (90% are private rooms) joined to other households to form a neighborhood. Within each unit, residents enjoy amenities similar to the atmosphere of a home like a hearth room, dining room, and a country kitchen.
