When a patient in the final stage of an illness chooses to remain at home, they often require hospice care service. As long as their symptoms are under control, we may recommend routine home care. Patients at this level of care often have pain, nausea, vomiting, and other common symptoms that can be managed during regular visits from medical professionals.

Patients receive personalized service based on their needs. Our doctors, nurses, and aides work hard to coordinate care plans with the patient’s physician and family. As such, the number of visits our hospice staff must make varies based on the plan established in advance. Because needs can and often do change, our team may adjust scheduled visits to ensure an optimal level of routine care.

We may recommend continuous care when a patient’s symptoms are unpredictable and acute. Often needed during periods of crisis, continuous care requires round-the-clock medical supervision.
In most cases, at least one registered nurse will stay with the patient, providing medical treatment when needed. Other team members may make multiple visits to help provide specialized care to critically ill patients.

Continuous care aims to reduce pain and control the most severe medical symptoms so that the patient may be downgraded and continue receiving routine care at home. If it cannot, our team will do everything in their power to make your loved one as comfortable as possible in the time they have left.
